This interview with advocate Sarabjit Singh Bains was published on 6 July 2022. In this interview, Sarabjit Singh Bains had a detailed discussion on the water issue of Punjab, the release of bandi Singhs and other issues of Punjab. Advocate Bains said that the water issue of Punjab is a serious issue. Speaking in detail on the issue of water, Advocate Bains explained how the canals were constructed during the time of the British and he said that Punjab already has water left only for 5-6 years. Bains said that no government or minister is thinking about solving the water issue of Punjab, nor are people being made aware about it through seminars or education. While presenting the data, Bains said that how much water is being given to Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi and Jammu Kashmir and how much is saved for Punjab. The journalist asked Bains that often the leader of Haryana or Delhi High Command tries to give the water of Punjab to Haryana, what do you think about it? Then Bains said that this is a tragic thing for Punjab. Because the Delhi government has always been discriminating against Punjab for being a rebel. Regarding Kejriwal’s statement about giving SYL water to Haryana, Bains said that he wants to please other states for the upcoming elections. Apart from this, while talking about the historical facts, he said that in 1966 (when reorganization act was brought)Indira Gandhi was giving more water to Haryana than the demand, je talked about the deception done to Punjab by the Congress leaders of Punjab. He said that after the inauguration of the SYL movement by Indira Gandhi in 1982, the Kapoori Morcha was organized by the Akali Dal, which was later continued at Amritsar, which included the Anandpur sahib resolution too. Due to this, the sikh genocide took place in 1984. In 1986, when the work of SYL canal started again, Bhai Balwinder Singh Jatana opposed it and only after that the period of militancy started. He also told about Captain Amarinder Singh’s role in this issue in 2004. Bains said that according to Jagtar Bhullar’s social media post, 3 crore liters water per minute is going out of punjab. Along with this, he discussed in detail about the current government and the Bandi Singhs.
