This interview with Shiromani Akali Dal leader Manpreet Singh Ayali was published on 18 July 2022. In this interview, he discussed the Iqbal Singh Jhunda Committee report, the changes required in the party and the Akali Dal’s stand on other issues. At the beginning of the interview, Manpreet Singh Ayyali talked about the report of the Jhunda Committee and explained what are the shortcomings of the party and the need to strengthen the party. Talking about the poor performance of the party in the Sangrur elections, he said that every party has good or bad times but the party can never go down. Manpreet Singh Ayali admitted during the interview that the party is suffering the consequences of the mistakes made. Apart from this, he said that he does not consider himself worthy of the presidency. Talking about his political journey, he said that there is a need to work tirelessly to revive the party without coveting any position. He said that the government should not be proud after the victory but the purpose in politics should only be the good of the people. Manpreet Singh Ayali was asked by the journalist that you are not often seen during important meetings, election of the president, election of the governor etc. Apart from this, Manpreet Singh said that nowadays people have become aware, so it is not easy for the parties to take any decision. Questioning Manpreet Singh Ayali, the journalist asked why the Shiromani Akali Dal could not support Simranjit Singh Mann during the Sangrur by-elections. Manpreet Singh Ayyali also gave his views about the activities of the present government. Finally, he gave his opinion on Chandigarh and the Home Minister’s statement that Haryana should be given land to build a Vidhan Sabha and said that he would always stand with the party in favor of Punjab.
