This interview with Davinder Singh Sekhon was published on 21 December 2022. In this interview, he was discussed about the sit-in against the Zeera Liquor Factory. At the beginning of the interview, he explained in detail about the corporate lobby of Delhi, how all the policies are being made from Delhi in which Punjab has no contribution. This industry is being brought to pollute the water of Punjab. He said that Ludhiana’s “Buddha Nala” is the result of textile industry pollution. Davinder Singh Sekhon explained about the liquor plots and how the whole process of making ethanol from grain works. What are the effects or consequences? Due to which this factory comes at number 17 among the most polluted factories in Punjab. He said that during this process, by breaking down glucose with bacteria, ammonia, sulphate and organic compounds are produced a lot. Due to which 25-35% of the water is taken to be filtered but it is re-bored and sent into the earth. Due to which the forest has dried up and the land looks barren. He explained in detail the water sampling conducted by the government and also gave various statistics from the laboratories. Davinder Singh Sekhon said that instead of doing justice, the government is arresting the peaceful protestors. He said that an application for this has also been submitted to the UNO. If the government does not come up with a solution, then the issue will be taken up in the G20 summit to be held in March, for which the Punjab government, Raghav Chadha and Kejriwal will be responsible.
